THE KEY TO TRUE FREEDOM AND HAPPINESS
JULY SERIES: THE KEY TO TRUE FREEDOM AND HAPPINESS
Buddha teaches that all our suffering arises from a mistaken view and intention.
In particular, we identify with an isolated, fixed sense of self, and we "locate" that self at the center of the universe.
Then we instinctively believe our self, our welfare and our happiness are more important than anyone else's. We continuously work to make ourself happy and yet somehow we never arrive at true happiness. Buddha explains that to be truly happy we need to abandon this view of an isolated self who is more important than everyone else. We need to shift to a realistic view that sees that the welfare and happiness of all beings is just as important as our own. This is the key to true freedom and happiness for ourselves and others. Join us to learn how to gradually shift to this beneficial view through the practice of meditation.
This series is based on the book Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life.
AUGUST SERIES: HOW TO CULTIVATE INNER PEACE
What is inner peace and how can we cultivate it? Simple breathing meditations can help us relax, slow down and experience ourselves without judgment or resistance. A peaceful, well-balanced mind is developed and maintained through continuous, regular practice, very similar to working out in a gym to strengthen muscles or build bone mass.
Is it possible to access this inner peace when our mind is disturbed? As the saying goes, there is stillness at the center of a storm! We'll explore how to find this stillness within the busyness of our daily lives. This series is based on The New Meditation Handbook.
